Errol Sharp, the founder of St James Hairdressing started his journey in the 1960s.
St James was created in 1970 combining his New Zealand experience and Pittsburgh U.S.A. with Italian barbers.
Errol would be among the most highly regarded barbers in Dunedin. His mentor was Vincent Cusack whom Errol considers was by ‘light years’ the best in those early days.
A university graduate in History, Philosophy and Theology, Errol is conversant in local, national and world events.
Appointment hairdressing (recommended) is a feature of St James where waiting is minimal.
Personalised hairdressing advice and consistency are major client advantages. Designated areas ensure client privacy.
Reuben Toa joined Errol at St James in 2018.
Starting initially as an apprentice, he worked hard over the coming year to refine his skills, allowing him to move into a part-time role.
Reuben has now been working full-time at St James since early 2020. Born & bred in Dunedin, Reuben worked as a baker for 14 years and has had multiple stints in retail.
